Being busy with a number of creative projects on the net as I am, I don’t always get to sit back and read a lot of other webcomics. And when I do find one that grips me long enough for me to devour the whole archive, then I know I’ve found something special.

Minus is a comic about a magical young girl that sports its own original style and feel. Sometimes the stories are cheering, sometimes thought provoking, sometimes sad… always whimsical. The art and characters are wonderful and endearing. You can always be sure of an interesting ride from the beginning to the end, even if sometimes it leaves you (purposely) scratching your head.

There’s not much I can say to really describe the experience other than to encourage you to take a look. I was very happily…

Inspire Me ~ “They’re Made Out of Meat” Short Story Review

Filed Under (Inspire Me!, Writing) by Aywren on 28-01-2008

I don’t tend to spend a lot of time reading fiction online — unless it’s to help edit works that friends send me. But for some reason, I stopped to read this short story by Terry Bisson entitled They’re Made Out of Meat.

Quirky title? Yes. Just about as quirky as the rest of the story. This is an introspective and fun science fiction short story written from the point of view of aliens who are observing the human race. I found it to be a great read, even if you’re not much of a sci-fi fan. It really does make you stop and think about high-and-mighty humans from a different perspective.

People on the whole take themselves far too seriously. It’s great to see an author who can laugh at that tendency and put it all into such a short, sweet and original package. Take a moment and take a read!

I found myself happily:

Inspire Me ~ Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight Movie Trailer

Welcome to my very first “Inspire Me” — the place where I discuss and review things based on an artist’s inspirational point of view. First up is my thoughts on the Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight Movie Trailer.

I first saw the Dragonlance books back when I was a middle school kid. They were THE geeky thing around the school yard — it was so easy to identify them, no matter front or back cover, because they were so lovely and ornate as paperbacks. I remember seeing the other kids reading them… but I was too broke to afford my own copies. Being the big fantasy buff I was, there was just something alluring about the way those books looked…

Years later, I finally got my hands on the first trilogy of Dragonlance books and read them through. I remember enjoying the characters and the world… though I was never a drop-dead fan of the series. So when I heard there was a Dragonlance Movie coming out, naturally, I was curious, and took a peek at the trailer.
